How to enable "Stereo Mix" on Windows Vista

To enable Stereo mix on Windows Vista:
- Go to the control panel
- Double click on sound
- Then recording devices
- right click to display disabled devices
- if stereo mix is not displayed, it means your computer cannot record stereo mix
- enable stereo mix

Isn't there any REAL solution to this problem? I keep on finding this same silly "show disabled devices" answer, it's no help! Vista does not have those devices anymore!
