To those who are wondering why you can't record. Read the home page: Screen Toaster no longer available after July 31st, 2010. As part of the shutting down process, you can no longer record videos.

I am enjoying using this software and at this moment I am making a tutorial video for my Sister ( 70yrs old) to help her in using 'Magix Cleaning Lab' to convert and clean her audio cassettes. we both have this software, but my one is a more updated version, so there are slight differences, fortunately she is a 'switched on lady' and pretty good in the basics of the 'Cleaning lab'
I have experienced a few problems with my VOX (failing to record) I am producing a series of clips in the order of 2 to 5 mins duration so it is a standard recording routine I have adopted (setting up the 'cleaning lab, then minimising,then bac to 'Toaster to set up the next recording etc' )
I have tried dubbing the sound after the video recording but it is not the same for me, as I prefer to ad-lib as I make the video, so apart from getting out of sync. on occassions, It is a good application. I would however like .AVI files, as a DVD is my 'end product' and I am about to use 'DVD FLICK' to do this which adds more problems, LIFE IS A TRIAL AINT IT!!

To Zeke: why would you come here to use a service somebody took time and effort to develop, then gave you the free use of, to tell them you don't like it and that you want to tell them to "jump in a laek"? If you don't like the gift someone gives you-simply move on. Do you think the world owes you their free services, and that makes it okay for you to whine about the ones you don't like?

The video gets stuck on buffering mode, won't continue. This is only about 20 seconds into the video. Also, your voice is so choppy, it's difficult to comprehend. And I'm using public wifi at 3Mbps! I am therefore, not particularly impressed with the service.

Oh, yeah: your verification code method is most annoying and pointless. I type in the correct letters, and still get a failed result. At least one of the letters is always hard to figure out. Makes a person wanna tell you to go jump in a laek.

When I enter JoVE home pagenfor a free trial I am told that I cannot qualify for a free trial because I have already had one. The problem is that I could not login for the free trial.

Love the product. Great start. Need to be able to 'annotate' as you record. And like others have suggested, it's essential to be able to export as .avi, .mov, etc. onto a local device. Keep up the great work.

Can you add the sound as you record the screen?

You should be able to download the videos that you have made so then you can upload it on youtube or place it in an editor (like windows movie maker) and edit it a little (add titles, blah blah blah) :)

What format will the publishable screencasts be available in please? SWF ?

For now, you can only upload it on screentoaster.com . We will soon add the feature to export it, on your PC or on another video portal.

Can you save your videos on your harddrive or do you have to save it to the web. Also can you edit useing Adobe Premiere
